Tuesday, September 06, 2005Bench 1 Person 10-2 10-3 10-4 10-5 10-6 10-7 A 50 15 no more colonies were observed 60 11 no more colonies were observed B 80 13 no more colonies were observed 80 28 no more colonies were observed C - 55 14 3 no more colonies were observed - 42 18 1 no more colonies were observed D - 70 no more colonies were observed - 60 no more colonies were observed Bench 2 Person 10-2 10-3 10-4 10-5 10-6 10-7 A 16 no more colonies were observed 10 no more colonies were observed B 11 0 0 0 1 0 5 no more colonies were observed C - 14 0 2 0 0 - 10 no more colonies were observed D - 9 4 1 0 0 - 11 8 0 0 0 *According to Mr Mathew however, the results for bench 2 are not very reliable, due to some errors, especially for comparisons between person C and D. Bench 3 Person 10-2 10-3 10-4 10-5 10-6 10-7 A 64 15 1 no more colonies were observed 69 17 0 no more colonies were observed B 2 1 1 1 0 2 1 0 0 0 0 0 C - 69 17 2 2 0 - 40 20 4 0 0 D 1 30 3 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 *For Bench 3, some of the very large values (e.g. 64, 69), can be considered as TNTC (too numerous to count), as they are probably not accurate too, are are beyond the range of 3- 30 colonies. With regards to person D, there was some error, as they confirmed they did not plate the 10-2 dilution, but there was a colony observed to be growing in that sector. Therefore, we can assume that the colony from 10-2 probably belonged to the sector for 10-3, whereas the 2 colonies on the sector for 10-7 were probably due to poor techniques, or error (according to Mr Lau). Also, there were some minor changes for bench 3, so please note, thanks. Also, please note that the date for the submission of this IM report has been shifted to this friday (9 Sep), instead of wednesday (and please be reminded that we have to hand in our HBD report on the reproductive system this friday too). -mk-
